SUMMARY OF BENEFITS

PLEASE NOTE: The coverage and benefits outlined below are highlights of the program. This brochure is not a contract of insurance. When we receive payment, we will mail you a Certificate of Insurance. Please read the Certificate of Insurance carefully. Please call us if you do not receive your documents before you leave on your trip.

WHEN ARE YOU COVERED
The "Effective Date" of your coverage begins at 12:01 am following the postmark of your application, or 12:01 am following the date you apply by phone and pay the proper amount. Coverage ends when you cancel your trip, when you return home, or when you complete the term of your trip. Trip means all travel arrangements made by a travel agent or other authority prior to the scheduled departure of a Covered Family Member.

Trip Cancellation Protection: Coverage begins on your "Effective Date".
Baggage and Medical Protection: Coverage begins at 12:01 am on your scheduled departure date or on your "Effective Date", whichever is later.

MAXIMUM TRIP COVERAGE
The maximum combined limit of insurance we will provide for any one trip is $30,000. This includes coverage for you, your covered family members and any traveling companions. Medical Coverage

Medical & Dental
We will pay medical and dental expenses, up to the amount of coverage you select, if you or a covered family member sustains an injury or becomes ill while on your trip. This coverage is primary to all other medical or health insurance available to you.

Repatriation
If you should die before returning home, we will pay the extra expense incurred for homeward carriage of your remains. The most we will pay is the normal charge by an air common carrier over the most direct and economical route. The limit for this benefit equals the medical limit you select.

Accidental Death & Dismemberment
If accidental death, dismemberment or loss of sight occurs within 180 days of the accident, we will pay up to the amount of coverage you select.

Baggage Coverage

Baggage Loss or Damage
If your baggage is lost, stolen or damaged while on your trip, we will pay the actual cash value, up to the limit you select. This benefit is primary to all other coverage you may have.

Baggage Delay
We will pay up to $100 for emergency purchase of essential items if your baggage is misrouted or lost for more than 24 hours after you arrive at a destination, other than your residence.

Document Protection
We will pay for administrative costs to replace your lost or stolen passports or transportation tickets.

Trip Cancellation Coverage

Pre-Departure Cancellation or Adjustment
If you cancel your trip due to a covered reason, we will pay you the non-refundable portion of your arrangements. If instead you are forced to temporarily postpone your initial departure date and have set a new departure date, we will pay you the additional cost for adjusting the original airfare up to the economy fare over the most direct route. We will also pay for your unused non-refundable land or sea arrangements.

Travel Delay
If your trip is delayed for more than 12 hours for a covered reason, we will pay you up to $50 per day, for each Covered Family Member for up to 5 days for the additional living expenses you incur until travel becomes possible. We will pay for one delay, for all Covered Family Members. Covered reasons for delay are injury, sickness, riot, unpublished and unannounced strike, civil commotion, hijack, quarantine, or natural disaster.

Trip Interruption
If your trip is interrupted for a covered reason, we will pay you for using economy transportation to catch up to your original tour.

Trip Curtailment and Return
If, for a covered reason, you're unable to complete your trip, we will pay you the unused portion of your pre-paid arrangements, plus the cost of an economy class air ticket to return home. We will pay you up to 150% of your coverage limit, if you insured the total non-refundable value of your trip.

Occupancy Adjustment
If your travel arrangements are based on multiple occupancy and at least one travel companion cancels for a covered reason, we will pay for the extra charge to adjust your occupancy rate to the next occupancy rate.

Emergency Evacuation
If you become sick or injured on your trip, Travel Insured will:
  • pay you for medical transportation to the nearest suitable medical facility;
  • pay you the extra cost required by the airline to return home, if medically necessary;
  • pay you for round-trip, economy airfare expense of an immediate family member or medical attendant to meet and return home with you;
  • pay for the transportation of your remains to your home city, in the event of your death.
Call Travel Insured as soon as possible after the emergency so we can assist you in making any necessary travel arrangements.
The Emergency Evacuation limit is ten (10) times your coverage limit up to a maximum of $25,000.

Covered Reasons
Death, injury or sickness of you, a travel companion, or an immediate family member (as defined).
Unforeseen default of a tour operator, cruise line or airline resulting in the complete cessation of services.
If you, a covered family member or travel companion is quarantined, hijacked, called to jury duty, subpoenaed, or has their home made uninhabitable.
An unforeseen emergency occurs while you are en route to your departure point and delays you from arriving there by at least one hour.

Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion
There is no coverage for any loss due to injury or sickness of an immediate family member if, during the 60 days preceding and including the coverage effective date, there was medical care, advice, consultation or treatment received for the condition, or if symptoms of the condition were present that would cause a person to seek medical care or treatment, or if there was any adjustment of medication for the condition. Taking a prescribed medication for a condition that is controlled throughout the 60-day period is not considered to be treatment.

Pre-Existing Conditions Exclusion Waiver

We will waive this exclusion if:
1) You purchase the Trip, Tour & Cruise Protection within fourteen (14) days of making your initial trip deposit; and
2) You insure to the total non-refundable value of your trip. The cost of any subsequent arrangements added to your trip must be insured within 14 days of payment for those arrangements.
